Putin visiting China and the new anti-protest law...

We said before that Putin is not the exactly example of statesman that we can have in mind or mention. And slowly this situation is being cleaner. Now he and his supporters in the Parliament (holding a majority) are approving a new anti-protest law, changing art. 31 of the Constitution.

This article guarantees freedom of assembly.  It is one basic right in one democratic system and should always exist in it.

The new legislation includes proposals for a dramatic increase in fines for anyone organising unauthorised protests. Offenders could be charged up to 39,000 euros. It will also prevent those with a criminal record from joining protests.

Around 20 people have been arrested outside the russian parliament. They have held protests on the 31st of 31 day months to call for the new law to be rejected. And everything begun with one single man who was arrested for being protesting by himself.

If Putin is looking for a way to limit this right, it means much more than a loss of one important right. It also means that the democracy (if we could say that in Russia we can find the minimal elements to conclude that there exists democracy) is working weakly, and all of our preliminary suspicions after the elections are being confirmed.

Bad for them. Bad for Russia. No one wins in this story...

Ah, Putin visiting China... coincidence?
